The Science Activation Program involves Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)* working on NASA science with learners of all ages in various learning environments. SMEs collaborate within Science Activation teams to share their expertise and experiences both in community events and behind the scenes. SMEs mentor learners, provide input on learning materials, present at workshops, and more! This map showcases the distribution of experts across NASA science disciplines, including early career scientists who are learning more about opportunities to engage learners of all ages in learning and educational outreach. If you are interested in working with a Subject Matter Expert, submit your request well in advance through the Science Activation Hotline.
If you’re a NASA-funded SME* interested in learning more about how to get involved with the Science Activation Program, visit the NASA’s Universe of Learning (Universe/astrophysics) or NASA SCoPE (Solar System/planetary science, Earth science, Sun/Heliophysics, and Biological & Physical Science) websites. If you’re ready to get started today, complete the NASA’s Universe of Learning form (for astrophysicists) or the SCoPE SME Connect Form (for other disciplines) to get connected right away.
*What is a NASA-funded SME?
Any NASA Science Mission Directorate-funded person recognized by their peers as an expert is considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME)!
