A model of the Hubble Space Telescope in the control center

Hubble Control Center – Model

A model of the spacecraft sits in the corner of the Operations Support Room. In this room, located inside the Hubble control center, engineers monitor activities being conducted with the spacecraft, resolve anomalies when Hubble does not perform as planned, and test new procedures with a high-fidelity spacecraft simulator at Goddard to ensure there are no surprises when the procedures are implemented on Hubble. The team also continuously examines spacecraft performance, looking for trends that could signal component degradation, as well as identifying ways to improve system performance and extend the mission’s lifetime.
